VNXe3150 Storage Processor Enclosure (SPE) enables VNXe3150 customers to keep pace with their growing businesses by expanding their system storage capacity. The VNXe3150's intuitive design easily allows you to add new disks that can be used to expand existing storage pools or create new pools. The VNXe3150 allows you to add any mix of SAS or NL-SAS to achieve certain storage capacities or performance metrics. As a unified storage system, data can be shared by SAN for applications and NAS for CIFS or NFS shares. The VNXe3150 is a high-performance, I/O dense, high-capacity storage system in a small 2U form factor.
The VNXe3150 system with built-in disk storage can be used with two controllers and supports multi-protocol IP connectivity for concurrent NAS and iSCSI SANs. Great for small to medium sized businesses, the VNXe3150 can easily expand to fit your storage needs. With the option for NL-SAS and SAS drives mixed together, you can find the right amount of capacity and performance to fit your enterprise storage needs.

The VNXe 3150 has two versions just like the VNXe 3100 does. The 1 Storage Processor (SP) or Dual SP. Something unique about the VNXe 3150 is it has two different Chassis, one is a 12 LFF and the other is a 25 SFF chassis. Each version can have 1 or 2 SP installed.
A fully configured dual SP VNXe3150 platform includes up to seven DAEs supporting a maximum of 96 to 100 disk drives depending on the type and mix of the DPE and DAEs used. Please view the images above for more detail on each configuration.
The VNXe has two different Storage Processor (SP) types to choose from. The 4 ports 1Gb SP is supported in a single or dual SP VNXe 3150 configuration. The other option is the 2 port 10Gb SP that is only supported in the Dual SP VNXe3150 configuration.
Disk Array Enclosure (DAE)
These VNXe DPE can expand their storage with the use of a Disk Array Enclosure. These DAE’s are only compatible with Gen 1 VNXe DPE’s. You can’t mix Gen 1 and Gen 2 VNXe systems.
In a dual SP system, when the 2U, 12 (3.5-inch) disk drive DAE is used with a 2U, 12 (3.5-inch) disk drive DPE, the VNXe3150 platform supports up to seven 2U, 12 (3.5-inch) disk drive DAEs or a maximum of 96 (3.5-inch) disk drives.
In a dual SP, when the 2U, 25 (2.5-inch) disk drive DAE is used with a 2U, 25 (2.5-inch) disk drive DPE, the VNXe3150 platform supports up to three 2U, 25 (2.5-inch) disk drive DAEs or a maximum of 100 (3.5-inch) disk drives. Please read over the manual below for more details about the DAE amount each DPE can support.
On the rear of the VNXe3150, the configurations are either a single SP (SP A) with a hot-swappable 1-GB Cache Protection Module or a dual SP (A and B).
Inside each Storage Processor (SP) is a CPU module with an Intel Xeon Quad Core 2.13-GHz processor with two Double Data Rate Three (DDR3) synchronous dynamic RAM (SDRAM) slots supporting 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) of memory for a single SP and 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) of memory per SP for a dual SP (for a total of 16 GB per DPE in a dual SP configuration).
